An award winning designer, Mary Lou is Matrix Four’s owner and Creative Director. Her common sense approach and over 35 years experience provide the foundation upon which Matrix Four has been built. She believes in an honest, authentic approach to design and business, and believes that a job well done and a satisfied client are her greatest achievements.
In addition to her duties at Matrix Four, Mary Lou does pro bono design work for Katerva.org (a UK non-profit whose purpose is to identify and award global sustainability initiatives).
Mary Lou achieved RGD designation in 1983.
Erika Hamilton-Piercy, RGD
Erika arrived at Matrix Four fresh out of college 26 years ago and has been an integral part of Matrix Four’s success throughout the years. Her attention to detail, pleasant attitude and a continued desire to learn and update her skills has proved invaluable. Erika specializes In logo design and packaging. Her innate understanding of her long-time client’s needs puts Matrix a step above in service. Clients love that they get to deal directly with the designer and communicate exactly what they are looking for on projects. Erika’s precise focus towards every job, and every detail reliably demonstrate her commitment to growth minded strategic design.
Erika also serves as the Fundraising Chair for the Weimaraner Association of Canada, and is also a dedicated London Minor Sports Association volunteer.
Client Services – Marketing & Office Manager
Susan is Matrix Four’s key liaison between clients, designers and outside suppliers, and is also in charge of new business development. Developing effective marketing solutions is just one facet of Susan’s experience. Her background in marketing for various sales channels (retail, distributor and manufacturing) has enabled Susan to provide our Clients with the creative insight and marketing direction they have come to expect from the team at Matrix Four. Susan is the initial contact for new and existing Clients.
Giving back to the community, Susan is on the Board of Directors for The Arts Project, an arts incubator that provides emerging Canadian artists gallery, studio and programs. She has also served on the Board on Wellspring London and Region.
SENIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER
With close to 25 years experience in the printing industry, Chad has developed a vast array of skills. His calm, quiet demeanor is a great asset to have when projects and deadlines are fast approaching. He’s been known to laugh in the face of stress. His attention to detail and eagerness to complete projects on time or helping a team member reach their deadlines make him a strong team player.
Outside of work this married father of two finds it hard to sit still. As a huge hockey fan you’ll find Chad at the rink playing or coaching youth hockey. Chad also enjoys hiking, fishing with his kids and ripping up trails on his mountain bike. He’s also a proud blood donor, with over 75 donations to date. Once the sun begins to set you’ll find him by the grill with a beer in hand.
SENIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Valery brings over 15 years of experience designing for print and digital media. She is delighted to be part of the talented team at Matrix Four. Her genuine passion for design is evident in her thoughtful approach to ensuring every project results in a happy client.
A strong believer in collaborative teamwork, Valery enjoys all stages of the creative process from brainstorming through execution. She is accustomed to managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, and is always eager to take on new challenges.
When not exploring new trends and ideas, Val can be found scouring the city’s vintage shops, walking the trails in her neighbourhood, or bingewatching Netflix. She values time spent with family and friends, loves music – catching a concert whenever she can, and cannot say no to chocolate.
With over 22 years of experience in the advertising industry, Kathryn’s attention to detail is evident in her role as the Production Coordinator. Every project that moves into production is proofed and reviewed by Kathryn, prior to hitting the presses, for a final once over. Kathryn prides herself on keeping projects on target to meet our Client’s deadlines. With years in the industry Kathryn has built longstanding relationships with our roster of suppliers.
When not at the office, Kathryn enjoys traveling, cooking without a recipe and visiting with friends.
She has also been collecting bracelets since she was a teen and now owns hundreds of them.
Kathryn has also have never eaten a PB&J Sandwich.
